Semi-permanent nail polish application protocol

The semi-permanent nail polish protocol is essential for a long-lasting, glossy manicure. By following a few simple steps, you can achieve professional results at home.

Semi-permanent nail polish protocol: essential steps

Start by preparing your nails: wash your hands, remove old nail polish, file your nails, and care for your cuticles. Then, buff the surface and clean it with a nail cleaner. Apply a thin layer of base coat, cure it under a UV/LED lamp, then apply two layers of semi-permanent nail polish, curing each time. Finish with a top coat to protect and add shine. Finally, nourish your cuticles with a suitable cuticle oil.

This simple semi-permanent nail polish protocol guarantees a long-lasting hold and a glossy finish.

Semi-permanent nail polish application protocol – detailed steps

1. Wash your hands

Wash your hands thoroughly with soap, then disinfect them to remove any traces of oil or dirt.

2. Prepare your nails

  • Remove old nail polish with nail polish remover.

  • Cut and file your nails into your desired shape.

  • Gently push back your cuticles with a cuticle stick.
Tip: remove any loose skin to prevent the semi-permanent nail polish from adhering properly.

3. Buff the nail surface

Gently buff the nail surface to mattify it and promote adhesion.

4. Remove dust

Remove dust with a brush and a cotton pad soaked in nail cleaner.

5. Apply Nail Prep and Primer

  • Apply a thin layer of Nail Prep and let it dry.

  • Apply a layer of acid-free primer and let it air dry.

6. Apply the base coat

Apply a thin layer of base coat and cure it for 30 seconds under a UV/LED lamp.
Tip: do not remove the sticky layer, as it helps the polish adhere.

7. Apply the color

  • Apply a first thin layer of semi-permanent nail polish.

  • Cure for 30 seconds (60 seconds for dark colors).

  • Apply a second thin layer.

  • Cure again.

8. Apply the top coat

Apply a layer of top coat and cure for 60 seconds. If you use a top coat that leaves a sticky residue, clean it with nail cleaner.

9. Final hydration

Apply cuticle oil to nourish and protect your nails.

Additional tips

  • Do not leave nail polish bottles open in sunlight or near a UV/LED lamp.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals to prolong the hold.
